I remember reading this fairytale in french thinking it spoke something about the Christian banquet feast in heaven when the poor little girl dies and goes to be with her grandmother.

A Hans Christian Andersen tale about a poor young girl with a burning desire to find comfort and happiness in her life. Desperate to keep warm, the girl lights the matches she sells, and envisions a very different life for herself in the fiery flames filled with images of loving relatives, bountiful food, and a place to call home.

She rubbed another match against the wall. It became bright again, and in the glow the old grandmother stood clear and shining, kind and lovely.

"Grandmother!" cried the child. "Oh, take me with you! I know you will disappear when the match is burned out. You will vanish like the warm stove, the wonderful roast goose and the beautiful big Christmas tree!"

And she quickly struck the whole bundle of matches, for she wished to keep her grandmother with her. And the matches burned with such a glow that it became brighter than daylight. Grandmother had never been so grand and beautiful. She took the little girl in her arms, and both of them flew in brightness and joy above the earth, very, very high, and up there was neither cold, nor hunger, nor fear-they were with God.

Comment on this quote: When the girl pigen burns the third match, her gaze turns upwards at the meeting with the Christmas tree, from hallucinating food and warmth to the hope of faith in something higher, someting spiritual. This is not just a hallucination that fades away, but a vision, that draws her attention to the reality at hand, a reality that is also spiritual. (source)

t's another chapter of the week again and no , I didn't go to Church , nor have I read the bible unless you call reading a sermon and random bible verses as spiritual exercise . Shame on me boohoo. ell as you pretty much guessed , it's about vampires . The story is a little quirky , humorous and it flowed pretty fast, I couldn't put it down. What I liked about the book was the dialogue. Nobody would understand a life of a vampire more than a stoner . "I wonder if Christopher Moore did a lot of drugs in his days?" the thought crossed my mind :P
Anyway , I noticed a few spelling errors , which is a crime , I know, but if you aren't a grammar nazi you would still appreciate reading it. What I didn't think I liked were vampires; but it turns out they aren't so bad and they have needs just like everyone else : hunger mostly . Some of them only drink the blood of sick or dying people so..., since they're sick and dying anyway ....... as long as they don't go around killing the innocent , healthy ones , it's tolerable imo.

The two main characters , Jody and Tommy love each other. She turned vampire first by some 800 year old guy, who was the creepiest character of them all , Elijah Ben Sapir. He hadn't recruited anybody in over 100 years and so Jody turns her boyfriend into a vampire . OMG the story !

There was also this goth chick named Abby who Tommy had hired to be a 'go getter' someone who could do things for them during the day ; like rent a place for them to move and feed some old Man Williams cat . THE CAT! Thank god they didn't kill the cat :D

This book has two of the shortest chapters I've ever had the pleasure of reading

The Best and Worst Parts of the Holiday Season

My favorite part about the holiday is..... joy and all the wonderful chocolate that comes with it , the presents, seeing all the Christmas lights and yes even the snow making it white . Nothing says Christmas like snow- even snowmen in winter .

I like Starbucks yummy peppermint mochas. I just had one today . I like sending and receiving Christmas cards , putting up decorations and just about everything about it . I almost forgot the music and the movies. Well some of it anyway ...I'm tired of the old movies like miracle on 34th street and Scrooged although they are still a classic favorite.

How many times can you watch C.S Lewis' the chronicles of Narnia: The Lion , the Witch , and the Wardrobe? That show was on TV the other night and I absolutely love Narnias winter scenes .

Last but not least is ........ BABY JESUS! Mary and Joseph too and well I can't forget the Magi as well as the Star of Bethlehem and the Angels . I must do some star gazing one of these days :D

The least favorite ? People__drunken, debase, unkind, greedy, stingy , unloving , mean , grumpy people

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

I don't think I've read a love triangle book or a thin plot. What does that mean anyway? Shallow books? too cliché ? too predictable?  Then ya, I don't like those kind of books.

Frankly I don't like reading books that bore me to death . I realize that it's a personal choice , not everyone is going to find the same book boring so this is why I try to stick to popular reads and well known authors. The grapevine is good for that, meaning, if I've heard it through the grapevine then it's most likely either a best seller or a flop but one that I should ultimately read lol. so I'll just say the ones I find boring are the ones that drag on and on and have lost my interest. It's a tough question for me because I don't think I've read enough books to be able to answer appropriately or fairly . The longest novel I've ever read was Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged and I didn't finish .
