New Moon

New Moon (Twilight, #2)
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Part II of the Twilight Saga

I can't get over this episode . I loved the movie ! I really liked the book too! They are a pretty close match . Jacob turns into a werewolf , Jacob is a shapeshifter. I mean how cool is that ?! The special affects are awesome and I think I'm just obsessing over it . I've watched New Moon twice now and I just love the werewolf shirtless action.

I started sobbing when Bella loses Edward , when he lied to her and tells her he doesn't want her and that he doesn't want to see her again and how it would be for Bella like he never existed . It was hard to see her deal with the pain of a break up, roll into a ball in the forest the way she did. It was quite sad. Sam Uley , the head of the pack , finds her . Jacob still hadn't changed though . He changes after he goes to the movies with Bella and Mike and right after he tells Bella he would never hurt her like Edward did . pfff. He does the same thing! His excuse is the same reason Edward gave her basically , that they were too dangerous for her :/ Poor Bella :( By the end of this book we see she really wants to just turn into a Vampire so she could protect herself .

I like Italy and the Volturi. Those 3 guys , Aro, Marcus and Caius(played by Jamie Campbell Bower who is cast as City of Bones' Jace Whalen OMG!!!) are 3 thousand years old!! holy cow! Ancient!

THGReadAThon Questions Part 1 "The Tributes"

We are discussing The Hunger Games over at smitten over books before the movie comes out on March 23 . The first set of questions are about The Tributes chapter 1-9.

1. Imagine one day waking up and finding yourself in Panem. What district would you be in and why?
A If I lived in Panem I would be living in District 6: Transportation because my dad is a train operator (not really ) but I like to travel and I think it would be cool to work on the train.
2. The Reaping Day was one of the dreaded days by District 12. If you were picked that day as one of the tributes, what would be your initial reaction?
AIf I lived in District twelve and chosen to be the tribute my reaction would be Fear and one of desperation just like Katniss because people were starving and I would be close to rebelling.

3. You are a tribute and your mentor is planning the best strategy for you to win. What do you think will be your best selling attribute and/or skill?
Aprobably hiding . If he could make me invisible that would be just great .

4. You were not picked but your sister/father/mother was, would you sacrifice yourself for them a la Katniss or would you keep your ground a la Peeta’s brothers?
AWould I sacrifice myself like Katniss if my sister or brother were chosen ? Hell No

5. Time for the first impression segment. What is the first thing that came into mind when you think of:
a.Katniss Everdeen
b.Peeta Mellark
c.Gale Hawthorne
d.Cinna
e.Haymitch Abernathy
f.Effie Trinket
g.Primrose Everdeen
h.Caesar Flickerman
i.Rue
A

a. girl
b. boy
c. friend
d. stylist
e. drunk
f. coordinator
g. sister
h. host interviewer
i. opponent

6. Look up. Who is the character that leaps out to you the most? Why?
A I have a strong impression of Primrose everdeen because
1. she was Katniss's younger sister
2. because she was picked as tribute for district 12. Who can forget that?

7. Do you think Peeta ever thought of winning The Hunger Games even if it means killing Katniss in the process? Why or why not?
A Somehow I don't think Peeta thought he would win the Hunger Games and I definitely don't think he would kill Katniss because .....he loves her .

8. (Refer to p. 40) Fill in the blanks: The Peacekeepers are back too soon and Gale asks for more time, but they’re taking him away and I start to panic. “Don’t let them starve!” I cry out, clinging to his hand.

“I won’t! You know I won’t! Katniss, remember I ______” he say, and they yank us apart and slam the door and I’ll never know what it was he wanted me to remember.
A love you

9. Most memorable/favorite scene in Part I “The Tribute”?
A ....I like when Katniss shoots an arrow at an apple in a roast pig's mouth

10. I know it’s too early to say, but if there was something you want to know more about or you would want to be more elaborated, what would it be and why?
A I would have liked to know more about Gale and that girl Avox/traitor they both saw in the woods who was now serving her .
Favorite quote: "As long as you can find yourself, you'll never starve." Applies to both the katniss roots as a food source and to the idea that she must know who she is, have confidence in her strengths, and trust herself in order to survive.

Twilight

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Bella is a too-old-for-her-years teenager who moves to her father's rainy Washington town when her mom gets remarried. Once there, she winds up befriending Edward a mysterious student in her biology class. Edward misses lots of school, and occasionally saves Bella from out-of-control cars. The plot here is not whether or not Edward is a vampire-- you're clear on that from very early on. The plot involves what happens when strange vampires intrude on Edward's family's territory and the lengths that Edward's family will go to protect the human in their midst.
I didn't think I was going to like reading these books and maybe it was going to be a waste of time , but I'm glad I did. But why was Bella so damn depressed? Maybe it was just the weather *shrugs.

Halfway through the book Edward finally confesses to Bella that her scent drives him wild . He describes it like she was his personal brand of heroine that he couldn't stay away from . He also feels like she was a demon sent to torment him .

When the 'tracker' or the 'hunter' James, attacks Bella and she lay there almost dying it would seem that all Edward could think of was himself . I was appauled.

Favorite quotes

“You are exactly my brand of heroine.”
~ Edward describing why Bella is so irresistible to him.
“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…”
“Stupid lamb.”
“What a sick, masochistic lion.”
~ Edward and Bella summarizing the road to their relationship.

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most…
I actually answered this question  on August 2,2011 via Plinky.com . I'm surprised how similar my answer was to Rachel's . However I don't have a picture of me sitting in my lazyboy couch where I typically like to read, so here is a nice picture with a round chair I think would be a cool place to sit in to read .

The Hunter Hunger Games Read A Thon

I'm jumping on the bandwagon just in time for a read a long hosted by Sarah @ Smitten over books and Sana @ Breathing Books.

Starting today we'll have a whole month before the hunger games movie debuts to devour the books ! Feb 23-March 23 2012

I think watching the movie before reading the book would probably spoil the book for me . It is why I can't get into reading Harry Potter . I feel my imagination has been spoiled by everything from the movie idk. Does anyone feel like this or is it just me? I wish I hadn't even watched the trailer because my impression of Katniss doesn't really match with the actress who plays her . I never imagined Peeta Mellark as good looking either. In my mind Gale has blonde hair .

Entice

EnticeEntice by Carrie Jones
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Zara becomes a pixie queen and she's determined to get Nick back but it puts a whole lot of people in danger .

Nick is in Valhalla, he died and she has to go to the underworld to get him .

Entice is the 3rd book in the Need Series and I don't recommend you start with it like I did . I got it cheap from the Salvation Army because I liked the cover . It's a teen read and it didn't appeal to me all that much cause I'm not a teenager . We are left wondering if Nick accepts her being a pixie . I kind of think they might have been happier in Valhalla .

What bothered me was just who the hell do Odin and Thor think they are?! lol why would they allow a frail girl like Zara to fight against Frank aka Belial just so that she could take Nick back home with her? Hadn't she been through enough already ? I am disappointed because I thought gods were supposed to be something perfect *whines . It's even more disappointing when she actually wins j/k

I was bored to death reading this book !

...so this is where the term Philophobia comes from eh!!!? That is the fear of falling in love . I thought it was funny because my boyfriend's name is Phil .

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Last week I finished reading
Paranormalcy and Supernaturally by Kiersten White. I liked the books but I admit they are a little immature for me.

I also read Masquerade by Cambria Hebert but I haven't written a review on it yet however it was amazing. After reading the free kindle prequel 'Before' , I went to chapters but they didn't have it so I ended up buying it from the book depository . I hated waiting for it . The cover is gorgeous! It has the feeling it is made of rubber :D

Lastly I read Under Control by Mark Mcnay

I am currently reading Entice by Carrie Jones and if I were a teenager I might think it was a great book but since I'm not, I think they are childish and they make me feel stupid and immature. I probably should stop reading it but I won't . I am learning that not all YA books are for mature audiences :/ So far I won't be getting the other books in the Need Series.

What I plan on reading is the entire series of Twilight and to watch the movies as well . Am I wrong to want to read this series ? Ya probably but since all my MUST READ BOOK SERIES are about Vampires , I cannot ignore this one .

check out the top series I plan on reading next
