So, what's YOUR favorite quote this week?

The Booktastic quote I chose is from my current read Dark Skye by Kresley Cole.

If there is one thing I've come to recognize about the Immortals After Dark books, is that they always begin with two creatures of the Lore violently hating each other almost to the death. If it weren't for one claiming the other as his/her mate i.e "Mine", they would absolutely tear each other to pieces! Yes. In Dark Skye I am finally coming to understand why it's so; making the romance hard earned and fun. It used to be that I hated all the contention but Kresley Cole is a writing genius. The fighting and bad behavior between two Loreans like Melanthe and Thronos is because of the Accession! The gods and goddesses are having a heydey! Meanwhile, Nix the ever-knowing is playing matchmaker lol. Normally Vrekeners and Sorcerei do not belong together. I didn't get it until I read Dark Skye! Did anyone else get that about why the romance always started off volatile? In the first book, The Warlord Wants Forever, I understood it, I think, but as the series went on it became a troubling and monotonous theme. I didn't care what the reason was*shrugs.

Dark Skye (Immortals After Dark #14)Excerpted from

THE LIVING BOOK OF LORE. . .

The Accession
"And a time shall come to pass when all immortal beings in the Lore, from the Valkyrie, vampire, Lykae, and demon factions to the witches, shifters, fey, and sirens...must fight and destoy each other."
  • A kind of mystical checks and balances system for an ever growing population of immortals.
  • Two major alliances: The Pravus Rule and the Vertas League.
  • Occurs every five hundred years. Or right now...

Waiting on Wednesday-

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. To view all the participants visit Jill@Breaking the Spine

I can't wait for the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare because we will hopefully see glimpses of the characters we have all come to know and love again and they will be older and I love the Mortal Instrument series so....

Lady Midnight is the first book in The Dark Artifices trilogy , which is coming in late 2015/early 2016.

Clare’s third Shadowhunter Chronicles series will focus on Emma Carstairs and the Blackthorns of the Los Angeles Institute five years after the events of City of Heavenly Fire. Emma, Julian and other characters first made an appearance in City of Heavenly Fire setting up a new world of Shadowhunters.

SYNOPSIS

Expected Publication: MARCH 2015

Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest teen Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood. Raised in the Los Angeles Institute, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian. As Emma hunts those who caused the death of her parents, the trail they’re following leads back to those they’ve always been taught to trust. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

Here are snippets from LADY MIDNIGHT, the first installment in THE DARK ARTIFICES trilogy

Snippet #1

The cycle hit the beach and spun out. Emma went into a rolling crouch as she flew free of it, keeping her elbows in, pushing the air hard out of her lungs. She turned her head as she hit the sand, slapping her palms down to roll herself forward, absorbing the impact of the fall through her arms and shoulders, her knees folding up into her chest. The stars wheeled crazily overhead as she spun, sucking in her breath as her body slowed its rolling. She  came to a stop on her back, her hair and clothes full of sand and her ears full of the sound of the wildly crashing ocean….

In the Afterlight (The Darkest Minds #3)

by Alexandra Bracken
Hardcover, 496 pages

Expected publication: October 28th 2014

Ruby can't look back. Fractured by an unbearable loss, she and the kids who survived the government's attack on Los Angeles travel north to regroup. With them is a prisoner: Clancy Gray, son of the president, and one of the few people Ruby has encountered with abilities like hers. Only Ruby has any power over him, and just one slip could lead to Clancy wreaking havoc on their minds.
They are armed only with a volatile secret: proof of a government conspiracy to cover up the real cause of IANN, the disease that has killed most of America's children and left Ruby and others like her with powers the government will kill to keep contained. But internal strife may destroy their only chance to free the "rehabilitation camps" housing thousands of other Psi kids.
Meanwhile, reunited with Liam, the boy she would-and did-sacrifice everything for to keep alive, Ruby must face the painful repercussions of having tampered with his memories of her. She turns to Cole, his older brother, to provide the intense training she knows she will need to take down Gray and the government. But Cole has demons of his own, and one fatal mistake may be the spark that sets the world on fire.

It's Monday! What are You Reading?

hosted by Sheila@bookjourney
What? I'm a spine bender

What I Finished Reading

After reading the Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells, I thought I could get into the Night Huntress novels, I even found a read -a- long BUT sadly  I- AM -NOT -ENJOYING- IT -SO- FAR~!

I purchased 6 of the Night Huntress novels and I am just disappointed with the whole thing. I thought I could get into it after reading 'Halfway to the Grave' but as much as I want to like it, the whole vampire concept is just too freakin stupid . Cat doesn't even come close to being a kickass heroine neither is Bones imo. It's la la la lamo .I get how some people just don't like this sorta thing cuz that's what I'm leaning toward with this series. It may be I only need to wait awhile before I can enjoy reading them idk . I also borrowed the audiobooks from the library just to get a better feel for the characters and now I wish I hadn't cause I probably would've come to a better conclusion had I read them myself.

Another reason I may not be enjoying the Night Huntress series could be because I read some erotic romance novel in between? and a new adult love story idk*shrugs.

  • Hard As It Gets by Laura Kaye

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Last week I finished reading
Paranormalcy and Supernaturally by Kiersten White. I liked the books but I admit they are a little immature for me.

I also read Masquerade by Cambria Hebert but I haven't written a review on it yet however it was amazing. After reading the free kindle prequel 'Before' , I went to chapters but they didn't have it so I ended up buying it from the book depository . I hated waiting for it . The cover is gorgeous! It has the feeling it is made of rubber :D

Lastly I read Under Control by Mark Mcnay

I am currently reading Entice by Carrie Jones and if I were a teenager I might think it was a great book but since I'm not, I think they are childish and they make me feel stupid and immature. I probably should stop reading it but I won't . I am learning that not all YA books are for mature audiences :/ So far I won't be getting the other books in the Need Series.

What I plan on reading is the entire series of Twilight and to watch the movies as well . Am I wrong to want to read this series ? Ya probably but since all my MUST READ BOOK SERIES are about Vampires , I cannot ignore this one .

check out the top series I plan on reading next
