Book Blogger Hop


The question of the Week
🧛 🦇 🎃 It's getting closer to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer -- urban fantasy, or horror, and why? (submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books) 

 Hands down without a doubt Urban Fantasy. Any sort of fantasy is a favourite genre, and I like reading it the most and not even horror will ever top that. So there. :p "Take that horror, you are evil!" 😁⛄

    I do enjoy urban fantasy when it stays UF and doesn't venture towards paranormal romance, but horror is my first love! There are so many themes and subjects in the genre that I love-slashers, things lurking in the woods, expeditions in trouble, shark attacks, urban legends, monster myths, creature feature...the list is endless!

      I'm reading about ghosts. Ellie Jordan Ghost Trapper by J.L Bryan. Just imagining those terrible wicked spirits is enough to put the book down. I haven't read anything that I couldn't read yet though. But Horror generally doesn't appeal to me at all.

    I totally agree with you!! I MUCH prefer UF!! I have never liked the horror genre. I've read a few things, like stories by Poe (required in high school, UGH!), "The Exorcist", by William Peter Blatty, and one Stephen King story. These few ventures into the horror genre convinced me that it just wasn't for me. I HATE feeling scared, and I HATE gory details!!

    I find that UF is simply MUCH more interesting than the horror genre. The characters, the world-building....AWESOME!! :)

    I want to read more UF that doesn't also contain paranormal romance, but I don't mind the mix of the two. I just want to broaden my horizons.

    I like both, but went UF since it's more clear on what the genre is than horror. I can do horror, but I can't do all horror.

    Horror isn't for everyone. However, I do prefer horror novels over urban fantasy.
