Vampgirl♥ Fraterfest Event

I really love Vampires and Rhiannon Frater is a master storyteller. Her new release Pretty When She Kills [PWSK] is just a.m.a.z.i.n.g. What better way to celebrate the month of October then with some dark reads and things that go bump in the night? I have chosen these #freekindlebooks as part of my Fraterfest read-a-thon but I'm quite sure I won't be able to read them all in just 3 days but they will be on my to-be-read list for the whole month. All of these were free when I got them. Death weeps is free today only-Friday. I've already begun to read Rhiannon Fraters Blood and Love and Other Vampire Tales.

I love this series but with the joyous news of her being pregnant I cannot help but think it will mean more trouble for her. Well, bring it on! If my memory serves me correct at the end of Alexander Death, her and Seth are travelling incognito somewhere in Paris. I love the landscapes of Ancient history that J.R. Bryan paints. It is truly amazing to read!

Ok well ? Jolie swore off men twice now and honestly? It would have been best to keep her promises but alas, it doesn't happen. I was thinking she might have been better off with someone like ....Mercedes Berg, the Prophetess. Wouldn't that be a better match? ssh ya. I could picture them both taking over the Underworld together. Jolie being the Queen with Mercedes by her side ..c'mon. There is nothing stopping them.

I can't begin to describe the disappointment I feel. I don't think I want to keep reading about her messed up love life , honestly. Rand had better step up to the plate or shit is going down. I mean really?! really Jolie?! Leave Sinjin the f*** alone! You know who he is now , just run away. Sinjin confessed he doesn't care for you. Now? he is just messin with you. He had Mercedes transport him to the past when Jolie operated her own fortune telling shop in LA. Wouldn't that make Mercedes an accessory to the fact they are both playing their Queen? Yes, yes it would. That is they both betrayed Jolie, or at least used her.

I have been waiting 3 books ago for Jolie to tell us what she was. Is she a Witch or isn't she? I think it's about time we found out don't you think? She has magical abilities and can raise the dead, and only two people seem to know she isn't a witch. The Lady whom Bella thought was the prophetess and Mercedes. This is beyond infuriating.

Be Witched ~ Team Rand

Be Witched: A Jolie Wilkins/Rand Balfour Novella by H.P. Mallory

This novella is written from Rands point of view but it made no difference. He was Jolies' protector and employer, he cared for her a lot, but so far it didn't go any further than that. They weren't lovers because Rand didn't want to Bond with her. It frustrated her and she felt she had no choice but to end their relationship. It all seemed redundant. We knew the whole scoop reading the 2nd book Toil and Trouble anyway.

The whole novella was about the time Jolie had returned to Pelham Manor after dualing with Odrans strongest fae, Dougal, who incidently turned himself into a dragon. She had wanted the faery kingdom to ally themselves with Rand to battle the wicked witch of the west , Bella. There was no doubt, without the faeries, Rands army would not stand a chance against Bella and her army. So, Jolie had struck a deal with Odran. If she could prove her magic powers were strong enough to defend herself from Odrans strongest fae in a fighting match, then she made Odran promise he would ally his forces with Rand Balfour. She did win and she had been recovering from the fight in her room, when she was attacked by a werewolf.

She almost turned werewolf. If it hadn't been for Sinjin that is. He saved her life by sucking the poison out of her but that didn't settle Rands mind about Sinjins motives towards Jolie aka Poppet evidently. Rand detested him. Anyways I heard it all in Toil and Trouble and I felt this novella didn't make a difference and was totally unecessary. It didn't change anything and his character was too contrived.

I am Team Rand. Who does this picture remind you of Sinjin or Rand? I think it could be Sinjin ,but with shorter hair.

This story begins with Jolie Wilkins back in Los Angeles. Of course she has no memory of Sinjin , Rand or that she is even what everyone tells her , a witch. Her complicated life as Queen of the Underworld was snatched away by Sinjin Sinclair, the womenizing Vampire. He had manipulated time with the help of the Prophetess simply because he wanted to protect Jolie from the Lurkers. A band of renegade humans who have vampire blood in their veins and who want to rid the world of underworldly creatures.

So far we haven't run into them or seen any of them. hmmm. Sinjin conveniently shows up at Jolies store pretending he needed to use her phone and that was the first time Jolie had laid eyes on him and she falls in love with him eventually. Lucky for her, before she was whisked into the past, she had contacted Rand telepathically, to get Mathilda ASAP, because Mercedes and Sinjin looked like they were having a party down by the beach and she was using her Charms to send Sinjin back in Time.

I was angry about the fact Sinjin lies to Jolie. He had told her Rand was dangerous and was her enemy . UGH! Of all the low down things to do! I was even more amazed that she completely trusted and believed him but wasn't surprised that she fell head over heels in love with him, after all he was still as gorgeous and sexy as ever. They even had sex! Rand had much to sweat over as he tried so hard to get her to believe him.

Jolie becomes really sick and it was Rand who took care of her. She was allowed all her memories and eventually heals from a broken heart blah blah blah :p Listen to the song Sinjin plays for Jolie in his car when they are en route to the battlefield

Sydney is still working to keep Jill in hiding and Eddie, a dhampir guardian, is also hired to protect her; and so is Angeline, one of the Keepers. Sydney is an Alchemist. We met her in Vampire Academy. She bears a tattoo of a golden lily on her cheek made with vampire blood. It is significant to her lifestyle and belief system. Alchemists do not like vampires. They believe vampires aren't supposed to be found in human society so I guess they are the ones to make sure it doesn't happen.

While they are in school, Sydney and Jill and the rest of them are living incognito. If humans were to find out who they were, it just would blow everything sky high and there would probably be a vampire war, or some shit like that. They are all supposedly related and family. This book drags on more than I care for. *yawns

Sydney meets with Mr. Darnell to bear witness for his son, Keith. He was found to be dealing with vampires on the side, selling drugs and blood. He got suspended and has to undergo treatment now. Re-educated is what they call brainwashing.

Meanwhile, Sonya and Dimitri are looking into finding answers to preventing Morois from turning Strigoi.

----------Spoiler Alert-------------- 

Anyway, Sydneys friend, Trey, sets her up on a date with a guy named Brayden. She likes him because he's smart, drives a nice car, and smells like coffee. Sydney loves coffee but she seems to think she has to watch her weight and therefore doesn't eat sugar. whatever. Ms. Terwilliger is a coven witch who is teaching Sydney how to cast spells but Sydney doesn't condone that sort of thing at all. I think it would help her to protect herself. She could use some help after a run in with a few Vampire Hunters. She is also taking a defense class with Mr. Wolfe together with Adrian.

Adrian meets with his father who had nothing but terrible things to say about him. He drinks to keep from going crazy, so he says. He has a spirit bond with Jill but it affects the mind to the point of going insane. He also bought a new car with the money his dad gave him.

Angeline sneeks in to the halloween dance and Jill does something to the punch that makes a big explosion in order to distract the teacher from Angeline. Nobody suspected anything and Angeline got away with possibly being suspended from school. She was already confined to her room for punching out somebody. Nothing too exciting happens in the first 10 chapters.

On her date with Brayden she gets a call from Adrian telling her Sonya was missing. Well if that wasn't inconvenient, now she has to brush Brayden off again. I don't think this relationship is going anywhere at this point. Nobody knows where to find Sonya and Sydney came up with an idea. She would do anything to find her. Even though she doesn't condone magic spells she realizes she could make a spell to find out someones whereabouts. She takes Adrian with her to Ms. Terwilligers place and is brought into a back room where she can work on her spell. Hours later, she is shown something that reminds her of the tattoo she saw on Trey. It turns out Trey is involved in the Warriors of Light-he is a Vampire hunter. I'm not surprised. He is one of them and Eddie approaches him and threatens him. Sydney really wants to find her so she volunteers herself to go into their compound hoping she could straighten things out. Sonya is in danger because they think she's a Strigoi. They want to kill her and the only reason they haven't yet is because this was a test to find out who was going to do it.

Dimitri and Eddie save her when they burst into the arena carrying Sonya away and Sydney did some magic of her own and got away from her captors. Anyway Adrian is in love with Sydney like we didn't know that already. After all that, we still don't know why Sydneys' blood is despicable to Strigois :/ I'm not impressed
