When I found out +Giselle from Expresso book tours was doing a cover reveal for Pretty When They Collide I jumped on the bandwagon. I was curious to find out more so I decided to email the author in order to get an advanced E-copy of PWTC and I'm so happy I did! I feel better knowing I've read a book before promoting it. It doesn't usually happen when I do a cover reveal because the book hasn't yet been published and I don't have much experience in this whole business. I may be a book blogger but I'm not much of a book reviewer. I would rather write about the books I read without getting involved in the professional aspect you know what I mean? It's my blog and I can do whatever I want!!

Honestly I had a good idea of what the cover was going to look like back in November 2012 when Rhiannon Frater had a contest about naming the title. I'd also heard that it was put on hold because of personal reasons. I understand that it was hard for her to finish the book due to the abusive content and character of the vampire Frank (who is an asshole) and I agree! He is an asshole! You can read her blog post for more of the details.

The synopsis pretty much says it best but Cass and Aimee made their debut in PWSK and I thought they were awesome and together they make a great team. We got to know more about Aimee, the witch, in this novella. She is the one who is being abused by the monster named Frank. Cass is still my favorite idk maybe it's because I love Rhiannon Fraters portrayal of vampires but she does know how to fight and is more kickass. Cass robs from bad guys and is going to steal Aimee away, watch out.
Did you know it is in the Dhamphirs nature to kill their vampire fathers and feed on their mortal mothers? I guess that's why meeting her father Cian in Pretty When She Kills was not the correct response?

"This really wasn't the way I planned to meet you. I had no intention of showing up all, 'Hi, Dad, I'm a dhamphir and a lesbian, howya doin'." - Cassandra to Cian
If you haven't read Pretty When She Kills what are you waiting for?

Tiger's Voyage

Tiger's Voyage (The Tiger Saga, #3)Tiger's Voyage by Colleen Houck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
#3 in the Tiger Saga

Tigers Voyage has much to do with dragons and cool jellyfish and a Mermaid who I really liked and a terrible Kraken! Much of this story took place on a Yacht off the coast of India. Kelsey Kishan and Dhiren take scuba diving lessons with an instructor from Texas. Well, the boys had some competition anyway. It was fun and I would love to be able to experience Scuba diving myself.

Meanwhile Ren still hasn't got his memories back. One day when they went diving in the ocean for practice, an eel rubbed against Kelsey and she panics and hits her head on a rock and loses consciousness. That is when Ren decides to never see Kelsey again for the simple reason he couldn't save her. When Ren lost his memory , he could never touch Kelsey without pain, so he refused to perform CPR on her. It was Kishan who saved her, and he ends up breaking her heart AGAIN and forces her to take Kishan instead. HOLY HECK!

Ren and Kelsey's relationship is beyond maddening. I'm so angry! I cannot and will not accept Kelseys stupid insane reasons for being with Kishan. Never! They just don't belong together.

These quests remind me of video games frought with many obstacles and dangers. When they arrive at Durgas Temple they are told to find a pearl necklace and are given some weapons and items they will need on their journey. A Kamandal for Kishan, which is really cool , a trident for Ren and a lei of lotus flowers with instructions to seek out a women at the Shore Temple in the City of the Seven Pagodas

They arrive at the Shore Temple and discover Lady Silkworm. She gives Kelsey some silk and when they get back to their Yacht it unfolds into a silk Kimono, with five dragons embroidered on the back and a map on the front of it. Very cool .

As you see on the cover of the book , the White Dragon, or Ice Dragon, is the coolest of the five and is my favorite dragon. They don't harm them but they play games albeit deadly games. They all have names too. Jinselong, Luselong, Qinglong, Longjun, Yinbailong who is the oldest and my favorite.

OH the agony and challenges they face are incredible! If it weren't for Kelsey and her lack of conviction of who she belongs to, this book would be the best of em. I am not liking her decision to be with Kishan because she belongs with Ren.

Tigers Quest

Tiger's Quest (The Tiger Saga, #2)

Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story takes us on a quest to Shangri-la, where they have to locate a scarf belonging to the goddess Durga

Wow! what a place! I loved it! The people and animals were peaceful and there are faeries! It was interesting to see Noah's Ark as well . The food was vegetarian and scrumptious. According to an ancient prophecy the Scarf is part of the secret to undo the 'tigers curse' which when all 4 items are retrieved the spell will be broken and Dhiren and Kishan will be men again. In the first book the gift was a golden egg. But these gifts have magical power and are OH SO AWESOME! They also are given weapons to use on their unspeakable journeys/quests.

It starts off with Kelsey going back to Portland Oregon in attempt to forget about Dhiren, her white tiger. She barely recovers and tries desperately to put the past behind her but her feelings for Dhiren are undeniable . She loves him.

I love how Mr. Kadam and Dhiren compensate Kelsey for her help! She finds it hard to accept their generosity though. When Nilima takes her to her new house and is given keys to her own car and is surprised that she is well taken care of. There was no way Kelsey could have expected all this when she applied for that job working at the Circus. I enjoyed the wealth and perks of her job probably more than she did Lol.

Around Christmastime Dhiren comes to Oregon. It was an unexpected surprise and happy reunion. They both profess their undying love for each other but Lokesh is rearing his ugly head and eventually spoils their happiness. They had to call Kishan for back up and soon enough Lokesh sends an army of men to ambush them in the forest behind their house. Kelsey, Dhiren and Kishan fought to stay alive but Dhiren never made it out. Kishan had to carry an unconscious Kelsey to safety onto the rescue plane. That was the last we heard of Dhiren as we know him.

My thoughts about Kishan is that he's a girlfriend thief. I think he only likes Kelsey because her brother loves her . That might be what attracts him more to Yesubai and Kelsey_ idk but it certainly doesn't persuade me. I am still Team Ren at this point. It seemed when Ren didn't remember Kelsey, Kishan's attraction for Kelsey waned a bit too .

Ren is rescued but he is suffering from Amnesia and was cruelly tortured. My thoughts are that Durga took Ren's memories of Kelsey. She did mention that there was a price to pay for protecting Ren. I shall look forward to getting some much needed answers in Tigers Voyage.

O what a series ! I. Love. It.

Tiger's Curse

Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1)Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story starts off a long long time ago when two brothers became tigers. It sounded like a tragic fairytale . Next we are in present day Oregon with a girl named Kelsey . She finds a job working with a circus that includes the feeding of a white tiger among other things, until a man who calls himself Mr. Kadam comes to visit. He purchases Dhiren the tiger and asks Kelsey if she would accompany him to India and hires her

The story gets more interesting by Chapter 8. They arrive in India and Ren, suddenly becomes a .... beautiful human . I love it!

Scarlet "like her hair"

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was ecstatic at the end of Cinder to know who the rightful heir of Luna is and who will have to battle Queen Levana. Everything that we read about Cinder is just so incredible, but we don't get the feeling she is capable of anything and that kinda sucks. I wish she was more of a kickass heroine. She admits she doesn't want to be a princess and she doesn't want to use her Lunar gifts like Queen Levana.

In Scarlet we get to see more pieces of the puzzle come together but not in the way I had hoped. I wish she trusted Dr. Erland because I don't think he would steer her wrong, but we don't see him at all in this book :( Instead of going to Africa like she was supposed to, she takes us on a wild goose chase to find Michelle Benoit. It was kinda disappointing. I like the spacecraft and the action however.

Meanwhile somewhere in Lieux France in 126 T.E. ,[sometime after WW4(?) in the future] Scarlet Benoit's grandma goes missing because .... [ she knows about Selena]

Marissa Meyers interwoven character plots culminates with Scarlett and Wolf , joining Captain Thorne and Cinder on their spacecraft.

Greta and the Goblin King (Mylena Chronicles, #1)

Greta and the Goblin King (Mylena Chronicles, #1)

Greta and the Goblin King by Chloe Jacobs

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This story depicts a hellish nightmare for Greta and I would have liked to know more about her life in her world, but we find her already fighting goblins, ogres and other fantastic creatures in a land called Mylena. This fiery place had two moons and two suns and was often plagued with eclipses. During an eclipse, all the creatures turned into ferocious beasts.

Being human was unsafe to say the least and she fought for her life everyday. Of course it didn't help her to know she was the enemy and every creature wanted her dead except for the few whom Greta befriended. You can see why I felt it was a nightmare for Greta. She had taken on a bounty hunter role in Mylena and the Goblin King admired her , a lot.

It was romantic what Isaac[the goblin king] did just for Greta. She was stubborn and determined to get back through the portal which she had fallen into , back to her own world, and with the help of the Lost Boys she succeeds in removing the evil Agramon who had plagued Mylena with dangerously cold weather, ice, frost and snow, not to mention stole young boys for their blood. He needed human blood for the spell that would release him from his prison and to open a portal for him to escape.

I was unsatisfied not knowing what happened to the few Lost Boys Greta had hidden in Luke's underground cellar, because they didn't make it through the portal obviously. I presume between her and Isaac they will find a way back home too eventually.

In the end Isaac and Greta are happy in Mylena , hopefully the land will stay safe and beautiful and sunny, now that Agramon is removed BUT what about Earth? Agramon was sent back through the portal with all the other little boys. I know there is going to be a sequel however...

There is actually a Cryptid Tale 0.5 but it might be in the back of the 1st book. (I'm not sure)

Ignite (Cryptid Tales 0.5) by Brina Courtney

Goodreads

Jeremy has no last name. His family has left him at Marksville Orphanage in rural eastern Virginia, hoping to find work during the end of the Great Depression. Unfortunately Jeremy is never adopted, because HE intervened before Jeremy ever had the chance. Ignite is just a piece of his story. Don’t miss Reveal, the next installment in the Cryptid Tales .

I kind of liked the old covers more . The fonts are wild and riveting and they appeal to me. I generally don't like to see real people on book covers. They did the same thing with Beautiful Creatures UGH! really??!! This series is obviously not your typical run of the mill fiction so why not keep it fantastical?
