The Letter 'U' is for Ursula in the little mermaid.

Jenny Matlock

If you liked Ariels little Mermaid , you probably didn't like the malicious, deceitful , vile , fat blue monster with white hair....
Ursula

The Letter U

a vowel in the English language, is both versatile and fun. Some people use it on IM conversations and in text messages to mean “you.” You might see it on a sign explaining the U-turn rules for a certain area. Utilizing “u” demonstrates an understanding of its usefulness! Originally, the letters U and V had the same sound—but the shape of V was always used for the beginning of a word, and U was used for the middle or the end. It evolved from there into a completely different letter with a completely different sound! By the 1300s, the two were distinctive, separate letters; by the 1500s, U signified the vowel and V signified the consonant. - Ur Dictionary.com

  1. My kids were a little bit afraid of Ursula when they were young. I would sit on the couch and they would both climb on my lap.

  2. Good Morning Jackie,

Would you believe that I've NEVER seen Ariel? My grandchildren loved her and always had to see the movies and even have the DVDs BUT I never watched any of them. Isn't that strange? LOL

I did not know those facts about the letter "u" and "v" either! Great post!

    Have a wonderful THURSDAY!

  14. I am a little ashamed to say that I am kinda/sorta afraid of Ursula. She reminds me of a lot of bullies I have known...

The other part of my always kinda/sorta wants to smack Ursula.

    Perhaps I am passive/aggressive! I'm not certain.

But one thing I am certain about is that I really enjoyed this little stop on Alphabe-Thursday's journey through the letter "U"!

  20. the little mermaid was my youngest daughter's favorite movie, she'd always want to watch it, and would sing and dance in front of the tv all through it, and even at the age of 4 knew all the lines.
