Top 10 of 2014: Best Books I've Read

My Top 10 lists for 2014 became a little easier this year as I found that Goodreads made a list of books I'd read in 2014 I didn't reach my goal of 122 books but of the 89 books I did read that is what I have to go on. Congratulations to those who completed their goals in the 2014 Goodreads Reading Challenge!

(in no particular order)

An Honorable Mention

First time reading the Harry Potter books and why not include them in my top 10 read?

  1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The first in the series made me want to delve more into the world of Claire and Jamie. Oh Aye indeed!
  2. Grave Mercy by Robin Lafevers. The first book accounts the story of Ismae one of 3 women assassins from the Convent of St. Mortain .
  3. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. This may have been the last in the series but we will no doubt see more of the characters in her up and coming new book series the Dark Artifices.
  4. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. A unique and amazing story about a boy who goes on a trek through the desert to find his treasure.
  5. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. I saw the last film in this epic trilogy yesterday. It is by far my favorite movie of the year as is the book.
  6. Hidden Dragons by Emma Holly .I won this book and it impressed me.
  7. Skin Game by Jim Butcher . Nothing but Fun and games for Harry Dresden.
  8. Cress by Marissa Meyer . This book is awesome.
  9. The Children of Hürin by J.R.R.Tolkien The events in this book were way before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and the story was fantastic all the same.
  10. Better Off Dead by H.P.Mallory I love her as an author and this series was très magnifique!

  1. I've read just Cress, and the HP books of course. You're the second person in this list that said they read HP for the first time this year. Wow! I was on my 3rd re-read (listening to Stephen Fry this time round). HP is great! Thanks for sharing! Here's my Best Books of 2014 post.

  2. Yay for reading Harry Potter! I read Cinder but haven't had a chance to read Scarlet and Cress yet. Cress is a popular pick today!
