Sunday reads

This book comes highly recommended via These Stone Walls . The book is a courageous and compelling account of how money, media, and mayhem have distorted and driven the scandal and singled out the Catholic Church as a scapegoat for rampant abuse in our culture.

Sugar Substitutes

If you are like me , you prefer sweet things over a bag of salty chips. However, there are safer alternatives to ingesting the poisonous toxic dangerous white crystal called sugar.
  • Agave
  • Yacon syrup
  • maple syrup
  • Raw Honey
  • Stevia
  • Dates
  • I just heard that Xylitol is a great sugar substitute.
I don't believe you have to be a vegetarian to convert .

According to Wikipedia the three primary compounds used as sugar substitutes in the United States are saccharin (Sweet'N Low), aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) and sucralose (Splenda, Altern).
These artificial/chemical substitutes are just as bad as the regular refined sugar. Here are the sad facts :
- Sucralose, the main ingredient in Splenda, is sugar bonded with chlorine - you know, the stuff that's in bleach!
- Saccharin, a.k.a. Sweet 'n Low, is made from coal tar !
- Aspartame, is the worst and when ingested, it converts to formaldehyde, which is the chemical used for embalming corpses.

But if aspartame wasn't bad enough, NutraSweet "improved" the aspartame formula, making Neotame the newest dangerous sweetener on the market.

If you are interested and you have the time you can listen to this video about the dangers of sugar. It's over an hour long

Fact : Refined sugar is lethal for human consumption because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins and minerals, rendering it “empty”.
Refined Sugar - The Sweetest poison of All..

Say NO to Sugar .

The Only Way To Cure Acne

Those who read my blog are aware of my quest to cure my acne . I started eating more raw food recently and then I realized, if some people can heal themselves from diabetes and all sorts of ailments than I could heal my acne.

Acne is a very stubborn disease and requires a lot of work to get rid of , I know . The conventional western way to take care of Acne only masks the symptoms but regardless of what you have been told, ALL forms of acne can be cured naturally!

I was taking Erythromycin but I stopped taking it and my face broke out around Jan 15th, the same time I started the master cleanse . Since then my nose has been red and painful and full of pustules . It looks awful but I don't intend to take anymore antibiotics or prescription medication as long as I live .
"Acne is a warning sign of a major imbalance in your system."
I think that's true for many diseases .
Before I got the Acne No More system [scroll down to the end] I was taking flax oil .← It says in the NOTE at the bottom of the page:For severe acne cases, take 2 tbsp of fresh flaxseed oil a day, and drink plenty juices. Do this faithfully for at least two weeks and you will see much of your acne clear up but it hasn't worked all that well . . besides I hate the taste of it . yuck . Someone also said that too much flax oil is bad for you so idk .
Talk about confusing !!!
I also don't think 'oil pulling' is that effective for starters either .

A short Background
I once had cystic acne and Dr. Tom Enta, suggested I take Acutane . I was more than happy to try it and I would have taken anything if it meant no more acne. I know now that Acutane is like poison , but to me, Acne was poison and detrimental. That was about 27 years ago .
I've suffered with acne since I was a teenager and I have never been told that Acne can be cured naturally without the use of drugs .

It has been my experience that acne drugs , such as Acutane or Antibiotics, lotions, creams, and ointments do not cure anything since they don't treat the cause , only the symptom and can significantly aggravate your condition not to mention cost a fortune!

Let me put it another way 'ACNE WILL NEVER GO AWAY UNLESS YOU GET RID OF THE CAUSES'. In my experience, without fixing the internal problem , you may find temporary relief in masking the symptoms, but your acne/pimples will always come back, and if you want to keep taking prescription medications, then keep listening to your doctor, because who really cares?
Nobody but YOU , that's who .

I will keep you updated when I have found what helps me the most . So far , my external skin care consists of steaming my face and washing with aloe vera soap and then dabbing the affected areas with tea tree oil which seems to dry up the pimples pretty good . I also want to get an AquaSmart shower filter.

As far as eating the right foods I basically have been juicing watermelon, cantaloupe and beets . My body craves cantaloupe, and watermelon . I also like pineapple in my smoothies and juices .

I encourage everyone to research for yourself but I found THIS → to be the only  skin care program you will ever need .

I voted for Heather in the Hot Raw Chef contest, because she presented her recipe really well and it made sense, and it looked like something I would like to try and easy enough that I could make lol  and it had at least 4 aphrodisiac food. Strawberries, figs, almonds, chocolate which she even mentions and I agree with her . Some contestants didn't even have one aphrodisiac lol ok maybe cacao powder but that's it .

UPDATE: I forgot to mention , that if you vote for the next 'Hot Raw Chef' you will in return receive an ebook of all 44 recipes entered in the contest, as a "thank you" gift :) So go to http://hotrawchef.com/VoteInfo.html before Feb 9th to cast your vote :)

I pretty much killed myself getting the Irish Moss for this recipe though. Beside the fact that the Journey of Health Store is really far from where I live , I had to take the bus , and the owner temporarily closed the store.

When I got there, I found a sign in the window that said: "Temporarily Closed. Will be back at 4pm , sorry for any inconvenience :)" . It meant I had about 4 hours to kill so I went to see my boyfriend at his work by bus . Anyway that day I ate some cooked food and something else in the form of a bug . My throat is sore and I had a fever .Walking back and forth twice didn't help , but I did go back at 4 o,clock that afternoon, only the store was still not opened and I was pretty disappointed never mind my aching feet .
Anyway the next day, I made sure I phoned first ; but there was no answer :/ so I phoned again and I was relieved to hear that they would be open all day . I was feeling a little sick with a high temperature still .

However, if I was going to make The Potluck I needed some Irish Moss. I ordered some online but I knew it would never come in time for the potluck even though I paid $38 for delivery . The moss cost $12 or something online. Anyway , as I type this my fever has disappeared but my throat is still sore . I have my Irish Moss soaking in water since last night and it's getting pretty soft and big lol . It's wonderful stuff . I still need red miso though ooops. I don't know why I can't use the miso I have . Anyway I hope this recipe tastes good .

Q is for Quinoa

The first time I ever heard of Quinoa (pronounced keen- wah)  was through Suzana from bodyrock.tv . She made a healthy Quinoa salad and I had to make it! It was very good even Phil , my boyfriend liked it a lot .

Dating back to the Incas, this grain is still grown in Bolivia and Peru. The small round grains look similar to millet but are pale brown in colour. The taste is mild, and the texture firm and slightly chewy. When cooked, the grains sweeten and become translucent, ringed with white.

Quinoa

'Not so Quick' Quinoa Recipe
-by Raw Loulou. (I hope it's ok to share )
RAW QUINOA COCOA POPS
  • 1 cup sprouted dehydrated quinoa grains
  • 1 T cacao powder
  • 2 T agave nectar
  1. To Sprout: Put some quinoa grains in a tub topped with water and put a lid on it and leave in the fridge for 24hours. The next day, rinse really well leaving it in the same tub, cover it with kitchen paper (not the lid this time) and leave outside the fridge on the side for a further 24hrs.
  2. You should be able to see some tiny shoots from the grains. The next step is to dehydrate for a few hours until crispy and crunchy. It's always good to have a batch of these made up to add to soups and salads etc.
  3. With the dehydrated sprouted quinoa, simply add with the cacao powder and the agave nectar.
  4. Spread the mixture onto a teflex sheet and dehydrate for 4 - 8 hours

Once the mixture is crisp and crunchy, break it up into small pieces and place in a bowl

Add some nut milk and presto, delicious healthy raw version of cocao pops.

It even turns the milk brown :0)
Yes Quinoa is a raw food and can be sprouted , which makes it quintessentially good for you .
-It contains 12%-18% protein
-great for vegetarians
-contains lysine , not found in wheat or rice
-is loaded with fiber, iron and magnesium .
-Is gluten free
Those are just 5 benefits of this super grain.
