Grateful King, moves to a small town house in Red Grove, but soon learns secrets about herself that astound her beyond belief. Aside from the fact she lives next to a graveyard and her house is haunted. It was revealed to her by a very sexy and attractive man that she is his reincarnated lost love, Hecate, the monk's hill witch.The one she fantasized about and who desired her for himself is Rick Ordenes, the caretaker.

His gray eyes settled on my face. “I am the caretaker, Grateful.” His finger tapped the scar on his chest. "And you are the Monk’s Hill witch. Your soul has returned to me again as it does each time you die. Your work awaits you. All you have to do is accept your role, and it will be done.”

The third wheel Ghost, Logan, seems content where he's at and unconcerned about moving on due to either his lost memories OR maybe in some twisting turn of event HIS BODY IS STILL ALIVE!

“What? I don’t want that guy touching my body,” Logan protested. “You should have had such qualms when you possessed me, you insolent ball of gas!” Rick threw up his hands in disgust.

He knows about the magic and power of the sorter witch, and would rather stay with her than be doomed to hell. I don't know why he fears going to hell as he is a very sweet comic relief and besides, Grateful would never send him there.The villain is Marcus an evil vampire who had been bound to the cemetery by the witch in her past reincarnation.

“Calling her a witch is an understatement. Her name was Isabella Lockhart, and she was more powerful than any to walk this earth. She was a sorceress of the dead and, although Monk didn’t know it, she had been protecting the town of Red Grove for years from the supernatural beings passing through these woods.”

I really liked this story and I would recommend it [for 18+ age because of the sexual content] in the Allhallowsread made popular by Neil Gaiman.

A Haunting Halloween Thriller

The Gingerbread Man by Maggie Shayne

It was Ivy Newman's favorite book as a child. Ivy was abducted and presumed dead after her and her sister, Holly, took a different route on their way home one day. Holly escapes but never recovers fully from the terrible ordeal that took her sister, Ivy, away from her causing her to live on the brink of insanity.

After a cop finds two children who had gone missing in a run down building, dead and putrefying, he more or less loses his calm and his cookies, and is forced to take a vacation. They'd been victims of a case of child molesting.

He finds himself in a quiet small town after he pursues a lead about a missing library book -The Gingerbread Man- It was found at the scene of the crimes of the two children.

I love the mystery, suspense and climax and the people involved in it. It was hard to miss the culprit in a small town where people seemed to be so connected and knew each other well. I was blown away and shocked when the truth was revealed. I know you will be too.

This series keeps getting better and better. After the two of them had kinky sex drank blood from each other it was as though they were born into their powers finally and Amaliya was able to Astral Project and raise the dead and Samantha could use ghosts to do her bidding.

Werewolves Bark At The Moon

Whereas I'm not particularly keen on werewolves, perhaps it is because they always seem to die (I'm thinking Van Helsing or Bram Stoker's Dracula) or maybe it's because they are brutal ugly creatures. In any case they seem to have taken on a more evincing role in Twilight. Taylor Lautner who plays Jacob Black is a shapeshifter kind of wolf . I know bah right?

Anyway there are werewolves in Kresley Cole's The Immortals After Dark Series, a paranormal romance, that are just as formidable as Jacob from Twilight. My kind of werewolf would be a supernatural being that only changes into werewolf form when it's either angry or on a full moon. Call me an idealist.


Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortal's After Dark #4) by Kresley Cole.

Bowen spends two centuries of his life grieving because of a damn sorceress' spell!! Haxa had enchanted him to Mariah, a fey princess years ago, making Bowen think Mariah was his mate, but it almost destroyed him when she died. Haxa had killed her and fed off his grief for centuries! She also used Bowen to get to Mariketa, the Awaited One. Mariketa is a witch, soon to become a powerful sorceress. They fall in love and this is their story...I LOVED IT!

Out of all the Immortals after dark one stands out as the strongest: Malkom Slaine. He's a cross between a Vampire and a Demon. Love him. Carrow Craie finds him in the realm of Oblivion. You can find him in Demon from the Dark .

Lothaire is the oldest of the Vampires and has succumbed to bloodlust but not entirely insane. In IAD, vampires who kill to eat carry with them all the memories of the one who they fed upon and killed which can mean for some pretty bad nightmares.
Conrad Wroth is a vampire who is on the verge of insanity as well. You can find him in Dark Needs at Night's Edge.

There are still a list of other characters that I absolutely love. Nïx the Ever-Knowing aka Nucking Futs Nïx is a Valkyrie. Rydstrom and Cadeon are demons. They have horns on the side of their head that are rather intriguing, and Witches such as the beautiful, powerful Mariketa and Carrow Craie. Of course I loved this series and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Countdown To Halloween Starts Today

Day 1

Out of the many great books with wizards, monsters, werewolves, ghosts, witches, vampires, faeries and other creatures comes one of my favorites that I love to read about.

The Harry Dresden files by Jim Butcher is about a wizard who investigates supernatural disturbances and helps solve murder investigations for the Chicago Police Department. He is the only one who is competent enough to defend and handle such cases involving supernatural creatures in the entire city of Chicago.

So in Grave Peril  Harry Dresden fights to stop a creature that is referred to as the Nightmare. The creature creates torture spells and eats part of people's soul.

"Let me get this straight. This creature, this thing, has been torturing powerful spirits for a couple of weeks with this barbed-wire spell. It tore up a bunch of stuff on consecrated ground. Then it blew through somebody's threshold and tore his spirit apart, and slapped a torture-spell on him?"-Grave Peril by Jim Butcher Chapter 14: Page 115 


There are many evil villains in this book. Leonid Kravos, being The Nightmare, is just the bigger one and the book's main focus. Agatha Hagglethorn's ghost is killed at the end of Michael's sword. Leanansidhe, Harry's evil faery godmother plays a part but turns out she only wants to help Harry, not kill him. Mavra the black court vampire wants to kill Harry as does Bianca St. Claire and her court of red vampires. This book is a lot of fun and one of the best in the series but then again I haven't finished reading all of 'em.
