The Iron Throne is said to have been forged by Aegon the Conqueror, with 1,000 swords surrendered to Aegon in the War of Conquest by the lords who offered their fealty and melted them down by the fiery breath of Aegon's dragon, Balerion the Black Dread. 

This new poster released for GoT season 8 aftermath, shows all characters lying dead with their corpses turned into swords making the Iron Throne. How appropriate 

Swords are an important theme in Game of Thrones particularly if they are made with Valyrian Steel. The GoT image of the black raven's wings and feathers are partly made with swords.

Arya acquires her sword from Jon Snow as a parting gift before he takes the black. She names it Needle because all the good ones have names.

Ned Starks sword has been in his family for thousands of years.
