Holiday Jingle Bells

J is for Jingles and all that Jazz

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas !

Did you know that 'Jingle Bells' was originally written for the purpose of Thanksgiving!? James Pierpoint was a minister who composed the song in 1857 for the children celebrating his Boston Sunday School Thanksgiving. The song was so popular that it became famous.

The sound of the Jingle Bells and the song traditionally have become synonymous with the arrival of Santa Claus or Jolly 'Ole St. Nick to the delight of children of all ages!

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

  12. There was a button out for a lot of years with a round circle and a line drawn through the letter "L" - for NO EL!

What a joyous stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "J".

I totally did not know that about the song. How fascinating.

    Thank you for linking.

    Stopping here made me smile.

    A+
